Batman: The Super Human Super Hero

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Batman is a super hero that doesn t have any real super powers. He is, a normal man, who uses his love of science, strength, and problem solving to make him a very special kind of crime-fighting super hero. Bruce Wayne was a young boy when his parents were killed during a mugging. As Bruce grew up, he maintained a vow to bring his parents killer to justice and so he trained hard to get his body in perfect physical condition by studying martial arts and gymnastics. Batman studied and excelled in areas of science, criminology and psychology. Batman is a top-notch escape artist but usually finds himself successful against the evil villains not by beating them up physically, but by out witting him. Batman s super cool bat mobile, bat cave, bat cycle and bat plane and his never ending utility belt tools make him capable of handling anything villains like The Joker, The Riddler, The Penguin, The Green Hornet, or any new criminals may throw at him in his mission to keep Gotham City safe.

The bat signal is a classic symbol to include on do-it-yourself paper invitations to invite young Batman imitators to your party or, if you want to take the paper invitation a step further, you can purchase cheap penlight flashlights and put a bat shape on the light portion, attaching a card with the date, time and location of the party. Alternatively, Batman specific invitations, and other authentic Batman supplies can be easily ordered online making throwing a Batman party for your favorite masked crusader amazingly easy. After all, Batman is just about the perfect super hero role model for young children. He uses his knowledge in science and math to design the coolest crime fighting tools, while having no real super human powers. And, he makes a great theme character for an awesome party.

Best Investment You’ll Ever Make – And It Costs You Nothing

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

When you write for an investing site, you see them all the time. You hear from the subscribers who are looking for that one stock pick they can invest their $500 in that is going to make them rich. Or ones who say they have a foolproof investing system, only to find that their method only works when the market is bullish. Notice there aren’t as many day trading or investing systems as there were back in the late 1990′s?

What you never see enough of though are investors who have an investment plan. A clear set of rules dictating when they will buy, how long they will hold, and where their stop loss is. This is what separates the successful investors from the rest. The cost of this investment strategy? A few minutes!

Its not difficult to get caught up in the emotion of investing in the stock market. The joys of when our research pays off with a profit, and the anguish and despair when we have to go against our own logic, and place that sell order. We’ve all been there. Unfortunately, we’ve done that a lot.

Its key to remember that the best investing strategy is capital preservation. While it makes sense when you read it, how many times have you watched a $200 loss turn into a $500 loss just because you thought for sure it would move higher? How many times have you turned that $500 loss into something worse?

A 50% loss means you need to make a 100% gain just to break even. While the world of investing in penny stocks provides opportunities, not many of them will give you a 100%. In the world of medium to large caps, it takes a long time with a successful company to get that 100% return.

QUit turning your small losses into larger losses.

Lets look at what you should include in your investment plan:

a) Starting capital. Its key to know how much capital you are putting at risk today. Its possible that you may invest in a company, only to learn later on that day that its shares are being delisted. Just because you invest $10 000 at the start of the day, doesn’t mean you will go home with that same amount. You need to set an amount that you are comfortable with. Capital preservation.

b) How much money are you prepared to lose per trade. Good traders ask themselves this question before they trade. If you are prepared to lose $500 today, establishing where to set your stop loss becomes easier.

c) Where is your stop loss? Are you basing your stop loss on share price? Are you basing your stop loss on the amount you are prepared to lose today? Are you basing your stop loss on a percentage of the trade or a percentage of your trading capital? What is your plan for a trailing stop loss?

d) Entry – where are you entering the trade? Is it based on a price? Are you trying to time the bottom? Are you placing a stop buy to take advantage of momentum? Was there news this morning?

d) How’d you sleep last night? If you are having one of those days where you wish you just stayed at home, then you should turn off the computer. Emotions will be running high, and you will make trading decisions based strictly on emotion, not your investment plan.

e) Duration of the trade. How long are you willing to stay in? If you are making a day trade, make it a day trade. Don’t justify holding a position for the long term if the stock doesnt move in the direction you want it to.

There’s the best investment advice that anyone can offer you. And it didnt cost you anything, but may save you thousands of dollars.

Back to School Confidential for Teens

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Back to school can be a tricky time for lots of reasons, especially if you have changed over the summer. You and your friends may look different in the fall than you did when you left school in May. You may be darker from spending time outside or have braids from your trip to the beach, you may be stronger from your summer job or wilderness camp, you may have a new hair cut or new clothes. If you had a growth spurt over the summer, you may be a different size or shape.

It can be stressful to wonder what others will think of your new look, especially if you are already self-conscious or you hang with a group that tends to judge people s looks. Hopefully your friends are your friends because you like each other, have fun together, support each other, and feel good about yourself when you re with them. Even if you haven t changed at all, or you feel like the only one who is worried about what others will think of your new look, the truth is, everyone wants to be liked and accepted.

When you see your friends for the first time after the summer, maybe you could say things like, “I am SO glad to see you!” and give them a hug or a high-five, instead of saying how good they look. Grown-ups comment on each other s looks (especially weight) all the time, but it s not a very grown-up thing to do. When we say “You look so good!” to someone, we usually mean that we re so glad to see them, but we are in a bad habit of not saying what we mean. Even though “You look so good!” is a compliment, it s a negative if we are only focusing on someone s appearance over all their other qualities. The problem is that it s the easiest thing to focus on at first glance, and sometimes we fall back on appearance comments when we don t have anything else to say.

If one of your friends says, “Did you see so-and-so? Did you see how she looks?” or “What happened to her over the summer?” you could say, “I feel self-conscious about looking different this year, let s not talk about how people look right now,” “I m trying not to gossip this year,” or something like that. It may be easier to just say, “I like the way that looks” or “Yeah, but she s brave for dying her hair blue” or some other comment that turns a negative into a positive.

If you are the person making those mean comments, remember they don t just affect the person you re talking about – in fact that person may not ever know.ÿ But comments about others will make your friends think you re judging them, too, and although they may joke about it in front of you, they probably feel self-conscious inside and maybe even scared that you are going to talk about them when they re not around. In the end, negative comments about other people can make you feel cool at first, but they usually make you and the people around you feel worse later.

Usually we think that the person who bad-mouths others thinks they re so much better than everyone, but usually it s the exact opposite. The person judging feels so insecure that they have to point out other people s flaws so no one will notice theirs. You never know what is going on inside someone else. No matter how together or cool someone looks on the outside, it may not match their feelings. A person who really feels good inside doesn t have to cut other people down to feel better.

The saying “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me,” is so untrue. If you ve ever found out that people have been talking about you behind your back, or if you ve ever been teased right to your face, you know that words can hurt a lot. Even small comments. I know changing is hard, and feeling different is hard, too. Even grown-ups have a hard time pointing out to our friends that what they are doing hurts. But when we are feeling grown-up, we do, because judging people on their looks hurts all of us, and it s worth it to make the change.

Choosing a Great Rifle Scope!

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Finding the best rifle scope for yourself can be nearly as
challenging as stalking the prey itself. With so many
choices and so many options, it’s sometimes difficult to
line up a target. This article will help first of all define
the options and choices you have, and give you a plan for
finding the best rifle scope to buy.

Ultimately the function of any scope is to help aim, give
you an idea of distance to the target, and make acquisition
easier. The best rifle scopes are high-quality, precision
instruments, very light, rugged and with outstanding optics.
To do that there are several features a good rifle scope
must possess. In no particular order, here they are. Not
directly related to the scope, but crucial nonetheless is
your mount. If your scope isn’t securely mounted, with no
opportunity to move, then you’re asking for problems. It’s
worth it to make sure you have a solid, superbly-aligned
mount on which to place your great new scope.

Other factors to consider would be the image and it’s
quality. There are several things to think about in this
regard. It’s just vital that the optics deliver as much
light as possible to the eyepiece. The more light you have
to work with, the sharper the resolution and eventually the
shot. This is one reason why larger objective lens scopes
(50mm) have become more popular recently, as the larger the
light gathering capability, the more you have to work with.
Lens quality is a huge issue, too, and can be detected by
any distortion visible around the edges. Lens coatings are
applied to quality optics to reduce reflection causing glare
and help gather light for a crisper, brighter image. Don’t
buy a lens that’s not at least multi-coated.

Adjustment capability is also important. A good scope will
have little or no movement of the reticle, nor should it.
You don’t want your aim reference point changing from one
shot to the next. Check for Parallax error as well. This is
when slight changes in eye position change the aim of the
scope. You can expect most quality rifle scopes to be
parallax error-free to 100 yards. Magnification of the
target image is another item to consider. If you’re hunting
with a very powerful gun over a great distance this may be
something you would want. Most the time however you don’t
want any magnification, as it fiddles with your natural
ability to reckon distance drop.

Finally make sure the scope you buy is watertight; sealed
tight as a drum, and totally fogproof. Keeping these things
in mind while you’re search for a new rifle scope will help
you save money, heartache, and missed shots!

3 Things To Look For in a Florida Mortgage Lender Online

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Wondering if you can really find a great Florida Mortgage Lender online? It is possible to get a good mortgage with a low rate, great terms and low fees. And you can do it online, with less hassles and headaches, by completing a simple application form. But before you sign on the dotted line with a Florida Mortgage Lender online, make sure you watch out for these three things:

A signature on a blank piece of paper

Watch out for any mortgage lender that asks you to sign a form BEFORE they’ve filled in the blanks. This is often a way of “pushing” you into a loan you can’t afford or making you accept unfair or abusive loan terms. Never sign any paperwork unless all the blanks have been filled in and all the appropriate items have been completed. If your online mortgage lender insists that you sign an incomplete form, find another loan company for your business.

Missing documents

Your lender should provide you with four documents to explain your loan terms, your rights and your responsibilities as a mortgage borrower. You should always get a “Good Faith Estimate,” which lists an estimate of all your fees and extra charges. You should get a “Truth in Lending” statement, which should include information about your interest rate, the finance charge and number of payments required. Your lender should also give you a HUD Special Information Booklet (a basic information booklet) and a HUD-1 Settlement Statement (a form listing closing costs and charges).

Insurance requirements

Some disreputable mortgage lenders may require you to buy Credit Insurance. This type of insurance repays your mortgage debt if you should die or become disabled and unable to pay off the debt yourself. However, this insurance is usually optional–it’s your choice to buy it or not–and should not be a requirement from your mortgage lender.

Before signing on with a Florida Mortgage Lender online, make sure he/she is licensed by the state of Florida. You can check for licensing of Florida Brokers and Lenders through Florida’s Department of Financial Services.

Troubled Teens a Common Problem

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

In today s high-pressure world, seeing troubled teens is an all too familiar occurrence. Teens receive pressure from parents, school, peers, advertising and the amount of information that is thrown at them daily. It s no wonder that the term troubled teens is so well known.

What makes this state of affairs so much worse is the fact that teens go through tremendous physical changes, not to mention emotional and psychological growth during these years of their lives. They are forming their identity during this time, yet too many become troubled teens, unable to grow strong and secure due to the pressures and stress of life.

There are the young adults who gleefully try drugs or alcohol, push every boundary they come across, seemingly without a conscience. Then there are teens who seem to try their hardest to be good kids, keep their grades up, participate in school activities and act with respect for those around them. Yet it s possible to find troubled teens in both disparate groups. Why?

There is research suggesting that the frontal parts of teens brains have not developed sufficiently to allow them to differentiate between risky behavior and good behavior. Due to this process of development, young adults sometimes cannot follow a string of directions, cannot recognize that drinking and driving are bad for them (it doesn t matter how many times they re told it is), and do not have the ability to control their emotions. If this research is accurate, biology itself creates ideal conditions for the development of troubled teens.

Others have proposed the idea that teens are not emotionally developed enough to handle the responsibilities they re accumulating. This reasoning would seem to be behind the decision to raise the drinking age to twenty-one, and to have age-tiered driving licenses. The thought is that troubled teens will grow out of their problems.

Still others believe that troubled teens have been created by our society. At no other point in the world s history have teenagers had so much free time, or such ability to focus on themselves. Less than sixty years ago, it wasn t unheard of for a teen to get a job as soon as she or he could, to help supplement the family income and care for younger siblings. While this still does happen, it s much more likely that a teenager getting a job now is doing so to purchase a pricey pair of sneakers or the latest CD.

These are only three of the many theories about what causes kids to turn into troubled teens. The most likely of all ideas is that there is no one reason – it s a combination of reasons. These reasons are probably as varied as the kids experiencing problems. It s necessary to figure out what these reasons are so that troubled teens receive the individualized help they need.

Only by pinpointing the cause of each teen s problems and then creating mutual effort between parents, school personnel, possible medical treatment, and the young adults themselves can troubled teens overcome difficulties and realize their full potential.

If you know a troubled teen check online for help at troubledteenresources.org/ Troubled Teen Resources or other informational sites and seek help. They will eventually – when they ve reached the other side of their problems – thank you.

Different Methods Of Borrowing Money

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Second Mortgages

A second mortgage is one that is created when the borrower offers the property for a second time as security while the first lender still has a mortgage secured on the property. The new lender takes a second charge on the property, the original lender retains the deeds and his charge take precedence over subsequent charges. This means that, in the even of a sale de to default, the original lenders claim will first be met in full (if possible) and if sufficient surplus then remains, the second mortgagee’s charge comes into play.

Lenders will, of course, only offer a second mortgage if there is sufficient equity in the property, and, since second mortgages represent a higher risk to lenders, they are likely to be offered at higher rates of interest than first mortgage.

Unsecured Loans

In contrast to secured loans, and unsecured loan relies on the personal promise, or covenant, of the borrower to repay. Unsecured loans are therefore generally higher risk than secured lending, with the consequence that they are subject to higher rates of interest and are normally available only for much shorter terms. For example, whereas mortgages, or loans secured on a property are available for up to 40 years, personal loans are rarely offered much more that six or seven years.

Unsecured loans have long been available from banks and finance houses, but it was not until the passing of the building societies act 1986 that building societies were able to move into that area of business. Initially they were restricted to no more than 5% of their commercial assets being in the form of unsecured loans, although this has since been increased to 15%.

Unsecured personal lending takes a number of forms, the most common of which are described below.

advanced-finance.co.uk/loans/personal.html” target=”_blank Personal Loans

These are offered by banks, building societies and by some finance houses. They are normally for a short term of one to five years, and the interest rate is generally fixed at the outset and remains unchanged throughout the term. Many of the larger lenders operate a centralised assessment of loan applications through telephone call-centres, using a form of credit scoring to assess the suitability of the borrower.

The loan can be used for any purpose y the customer, typically they are used to purchase cars, fund holidays, or consolidate existing higher cost borrowings such as credit card balances.

The purpose of the loan determines whether it is regulated under the terms of the consumer credit act 1974. Most such loans of £25,000 or less are regulated by the act unless they are for house purchase or home improvement.

Overdrafts

An overdraft is a current account facility, offered by all retail banks and some building societies, which enables the customer to continue to use the account in the normal way even though its funds have been exhausted. The bank sets a limit to the amount by which the account can be overdrawn. An overdraft is a convenient form of short-term temporary borrowing, with interest calculated on a daily basis, and its purpose is to assist the customer over a period in which expenditure exceeds income – for instance, to pay for a holiday or to fund the purchase of christmas gifts.

Because it is essentially a short-term facility, the agreement is usually a fixed period, after which it must be renegotiated or the funds repaid. Overdrafts that have been agreed in advanced with the institution are normally an inexpensive for of borrowing, although there may be an arrangement fee. Unauthorised overdrafts, on the other hand, attract a much higher rate of interest.

Revolving Credit

This refers to arrangements where the customer can continue to borrow further amounts while still repaying existing debt. There is usually a maximum limit on the amount that can be outstanding, and also a minimum amount to be repaid on a regular basis.

The most common way of providing revolving credit is through credit cards, although some institutions do provide revolving personal loans that allow the borrower to draw down funds as the origional debt is repaid.

It is hard to believe that plastic cards, now an integral part of most people’s financial affairs, have been around for the last 30 years. Their development and their impact have gone hand-in-hand with the rapid advance of the electronic processing technologies on which their systems now largely depend. Many cards can now hold a wealth of information about cardholders and their accounts, and can therefore interact directly with retailers and banks electronic equipment, these cards are often referred to as smart cards.

Credit Cards

Credit cards enable customers to shop without cash or cheques in any establishment that is a member of the credit card companies scheme.

Originally all credit card transactions were dealt with manually at the point of sale, but most retailers now have terminals linked directly to the credit card companies computers, enabling on-line credit limit checking and authorisation of transactions.

As well as providing cash-free purchasing convenience, credit cards are a source of revolving credit. The customer has a credit limit and can use the car for purchases or other transactions up to that amount, provided that at least a specified minimum amount (usually 3% of the outstanding balance) is repaid each month. The customer receives a monthly statement, detailing recent transactions and showing the outstanding balance. If the balance is repaid in full within a certain period (usually 25 days or so), no interest is charges, if a smaller amount is paid, the remainder is carried forward and interest charges at the companies current rate.

Credit cards are an expensive way to borrow, with rates of interest considerably higher than most other lending products. There is also normally a charge if the card is used to obtain cash either over the counter or from an automated teller machine (ATM), or if the card is used overseas.

Credit card companies charge a fee to the retailers for their service. This is usually as a percentage (typically around 3%) of the value of transactions when the credit card company makes a settlement to the retailer. There are, however, a number of advantages to retailers, in addition to the fact that more customers may be attracted if payment by credit card is available. For instance, payment is guaranteed if the card has been accepted in accordance with the credit card companies rules. Furthermore, the retailer can reduce his or her own bank charges because the credit card vouchers paid into the bank account are treated as cash.

Two other types of cards are mentioned below for completeness, although they do not offer credit facilities (except in a very limited sense in the case of charge cards).

Charge Cards

Although used by the customer in the same way as a credit card to make purchases, the outstanding balance on a charge card must be paid in full each month. The best known examples are american express and diners club.

Debit Cards

An innovation introduced in the late 1980′s, debit cards enable cardholders to make payments for goods by presenting the card and signing a voucher, in just the same way as with credit cards or charge cards. In the case of debit cards, however, the effect of the transaction is that funds equal to the amount spent are transferred electronically from the cardholder’s current account to the account of the retailer. Debit cards can also be used to withdraw money from ATM’s, and many debit cards now also act as a cheque guarantee card.

Teenage Stress

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

It has often been said that the teenage years are the “best years of your life”. However, anyone who says that does not remember what it is like being a teenager. Between school, life, parents, friends, and the fact that all of them want all of your time, there is no way to get away from the petty concerns and strains that can lead to serious stress. However, nobody seems willing to give up any of the time they demand from you, so you find yourself torn in a thousand different directions with nowhere to turn to for help. Fortunately, you do not need to deal with stress all on your own. Rather, you can find plenty of help, just as long as you look for it. Unfortunately, teenagers rarely look for help and many of the assets available to them are simply ignored. Thus, your teen stress keeps getting worse.

The first place to look for relief from teen stress is at school. There is a certain class of people who desperately want to help teens get through their problems and find solutions, but they usually sit in their offices waiting in vain for someone to talk to them. These people are guidance counselors and they are there to help you. However, it is very rare for someone to avail themselves of this prime opportunity for assistance, so actually sitting down with somebody is a treat for them and they will do all they can to help. True, most people think that guidance counselors are really just lost souls who can t seem to get out of school, but that is not the case. Guidance counselors decided on their career because they want to help others. Which means that they want to help you.

As well, you can get help for teen stress through your teachers. True, most of the help you get will probably be for your work in the classroom but, strange as it may seem, teachers are actually human beings. They want to connect with their students so that, when you go to see them, they will be happy to help you. If you go to them in order to get help with your schoolwork, they will happily give you assistance. They can help you through any issues or difficulties that you may be having and you will can learn more from them after class than you will during class. Such one-on-one sessions can help them narrow down issues in a way that they cannot while they are lecturing to a room full of students.

Additionally, once you sit down with your teachers, you may actually discover that you enjoy talking to them. After all, to repeat a point, they are people. And because they spend so much time in the company of teenagers, they understand teen stress. However, they also understand it from a philosophical perspective that can breathe some fresh air into the problems that you are confronting. Though you may not always enjoy the answers they can provide, they will be worth thinking about and, in the fullness of time, you will probably discover that they provided a very good insight into your problems.

Another excellent source for teen stress is with your parents. This is because of a simple fact that you may not want to accept. This is the simple fact that parents tend to have children who are very similar to them. No, it s really not pleasant to think about, since that means that you may turn out to be like your parents. But, let us put that aside for now.

Your parents were once your age (strange as that may seem) and teens often have to go through very similar problems. Thus, your parents have felt teen stress and they know what it is like. Sure, they may not want to admit that it was anything special, but they will, hopefully, remember that it was not easy at the time. So if you really need to get some sort of advice or help, sit down and talk to your parents. Not only will you get some sort of help, but you will also make their day. After all, how many parents get the chance to really connect with their teenage children?

Teen stress is one of the hardest things to get through, but you can rest assured that it has been done. Billions of people in the world have all had to go through the travails of the teenage years and they have through to the other side. So prepare yourself, get help when you need it, and look for help when you can. By relying on people who have “been there, done that” you can see your way clear to the other side. Then, you can safely look back on your teen stress and say stupid things like, “the teenage years are the best years of your life!”

Business Credit Card – Choose Wisely

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

It used to be easy to choose a new business credit card. All you had to do was compare interest rates, the service charge, and the credit limit. Initially there were only a few companies that offered credit cards. It was really quite simple.

Now the sheer volume of competitors within the credit card industry has made it necessary for the financial institutions to be extremely creative when bringing forth new credit card offers. Each new issue is intended to give more value than previous offers and better than any competitor’s card. Not only that, they need to back up those products to ensure customer loyalty.

The individual consumers aren’t the only one benefiting from this more competitive market. Small businesses and corporations are as well. In fact, businesses may be getting even more value than the individual; however, the offers vary widely.

Businesses are given the same incentives as individual card holders. This includes 0% APR introductory interest rate, balance transfer options, bonus points, travel rewards, and some with no annual fee. In addition, whether a small new company or a large corporation, business credit cards come with unlimited additional cards for employees, offers of discounts for certain types of merchandise, and a quarterly and annual report.

A company benefits financially when applying for and using a business credit card. Use of a business credit card helps the cash flow, an especially important factor in smaller businesses. The detailed reports, both quarterly and yearly, assist the company in keeping track of and controlling their variable expenses. Often times the information can be easily transferred over to any of today’s accounting software programs which also save the company time and money.

All benefits are not offered by every company and not for the entire inventory of their business credit card offers. Know the interest rate that will be in effect after the introductory period and pick a card with the benefits your company needs, being sure to keep future needs in mind.

It’s best to choose a business credit card being offered by a major institution. You want to be sure that you’ll have easy access to your records and funds. Most financial institutions allow online viewing of your account.

We are now able to compare a variety of products with warp speed. But, it’s still wise to proceed with caution when picking a new business credit card. You want this to be a lasting association.

Top 5 reasons why Above Ground Pools Beats The Pants off In Ground Pools

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

There are 5 things that make above ground pools the better choice when
looking at purchasing your pool. A pool can be a great investment.
Increasing a home’s value is one and if you live in a warm environment
providing a nice oasis. From pool parties to a nice gathering place for
friends and family.

Maintenance can be a major aspect of any pool you purchase. Daily checking
of the pool’s chemicals. Making sure they stay in balance to make it both
safe and algae free. An above ground pool is a lower in maintenance because
it is above ground. Keeping debris like leaves and dirt can be a real pain
but with the above ground pool this is less of nusance.

Also there is less chance like animals to get into an above ground pool.
Visitors like squirrels, alligators, dogs and cats tend to stay out
because it is harder to get at an above ground pool. Lessoning animal
hair and germs to get into pools.

The second reason why an above ground pool is better than an in ground
pool is that is Safer. Above ground pools are less accessible to small
children. A child can easliy walk or crawl right into an in ground pool.

The next is that above ground pool installation is easier. Whether is you
installing the above ground pool yourself or paying a
contractor to do it, the above ground pool is just less work. Moving
pipes, digging deeper. All of this takes longer and the costs add up quickly.

The forth reason why you should consider above ground pool over an
in ground pool is that you don’t need to install decking for added
privacy. The height of the pools walls provide more privacy and
less cost.
